"The family is important in Frankenstein and Mary Shelley demonstrates this through several relationships in the novel. How one reacts to family is partially connected to education. This connection can bring about different results as we see with the individuals in this novel. Victor's relationship with the monster is perhaps the most significant message Shelley makes about family, indicating that we must take care of those that are our family. Too much time spent on one's education takes one away from the family, which we learn is unhealthy. The lives of Caroline, Elizabeth, and Safie represent how an education on love and family can be good things. These women have different backgrounds and yet Shelley uses their lives as a message regarding the importance of family. Love and the family are integral and important aspects of our lives and Shelley demonstrates this in Frankenstein."
