This paper relates that the novel "El Libertador: The Writings of Simon Bolivar" by Simon Bolivar is a book of writings that paints a picture of the life, visions, goals, beliefs and accomplishments of the El Libertador (The Liberator), Simon Bolivar. The paper specifically examines how the novel explains Bolivar's visions and his victories over Spain to free five South American countries from the Spanish rule and how it contains some very famous letters such as his Jamaica Letter that are copied and used for various reasons today.

"Simon Bolivar is known as El Libertador (the Liberator) and many people see him as the George Washington of South America. This is because in his memoirs he writes about the struggles that he endured to become president and develop the governments of Venezuela, of Colombia, of Peru, and of Bolivia. Simon Bolivar was born on July 24, 1783 in Caracas, Venezuela. His parents died when he was young and he went to Spain to live with his uncle in order to complete his education. While in Spain, he married Maria Teresa Rodriguez de Toro y Alaysa in 1802. However, while on a short trip to Venezuela, Maria suddenly got Yellow Fever and died. Simon was very devastated over his wife's death and he returned to Spain in 1804 and became part of Napoleon Bonaparte's retinue, where he soon develops his ideas for South America. "
