The novel describes the lives of three generations of Indian women through the eyes of four emotionally challenged women and two emotionally challenged men. The family endures the tragedies that befall it through attempts at expressions of love that often end in misunderstandings but eventually through almost forced togetherness through tragedy each one comes to terms with the other to form a tight bond of love and friendship, despite continued and even accepted gender expectations."
