"Linda Christensen is an English teacher, writer and activist. One of her most popular works was called Reading, Writing, and Rising Up: Teaching about Social Justice and the Power of the Written Word. Christensen taught for more than twenty years at Jefferson High School in Portland, Oregon, and is currently Language Arts co-ordinator for Portland Public Schools. She is a member of the Rethinking Schools Editorial Board and a founding member of the National Coalition of Education Activists.
