"A primary limitation of the study was the population surveyed and its relatively homogenous status. Considering the opinions of a hundred males and females, all in their first year at the same college, is not in any way indicative of the mind-set of a great proportion of the population of the world. Young men and women who have just left home and are beginning their university careers are in no way fully grown, vastly different from experienced adults when it comes to romance. The fresh and young eyes of college freshman are not an accurate gauge through which to measure the effect of body-image upon "romantic relationships", although "casual encounters" may be an area of particular relevance to this population, which is engaged in the sampling step of their experiment in love, with romance developing from there upon their own hypotheses developing. Thus, the study is interesting as it pertains to the population of the particular small liberal arts university in the mid-west, but is not wholly relevant to the population as a whole."
