"The abstract gives a clear summary of the research. Harpagophytum procumbens, or Devil's claw, was the focus of this experiment. The rationale behind this study was also identified in this section. Harpagophytum procumbens is being used as an adjunctive treatment of inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the skeletal system (Fiebich, Heinrich, Hiller, and Kammerer, 2008). This warrants an investigation of its efficacy in treating anti-inflammatory symptoms in rheumatoid arthritis. Its extract, SteiHap 69 was used on primary human monocytes. These monocytes were primarily induced using bacterial lipopolysaccharides to produce an inflammatory process. The abstract also gave the results: SteiHap 69 was found to have anti-inflammatory effects. It also gave a recommendation to further improve this finding."
