↶ Look Inside

Paper Summary:

This paper examines the above psychological article and describes the research process in school age children. The paper also challenges the practice of using a single cut-off or threshold, recommended in DSM-IV, to determine the number of symptoms needed to make a diagnosis of ADHD.

From the Paper:

"In the article "Assessing ADHD Across Settings: Contributions of Behavioral Assessment to Categorical Decision Making," researchers attempted to adapt methods of behavioral assessment to assess home and school functioning in a way that maps directly to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (4th edition), DSM IV (Power 2001). A school-based sample of five to twelve year of children who had been referred to a school intervention team were the participants of the study. Children were assigned to one of three groups using a multi-gate set of procedures. "
