The Israeli Palestinian conflict has lasted for decades and has no end in sight. This paper contends that the atrocities that have been committed by both sides make reconciliation seem unlikely and how the war of the previous generation has been handed down from one generation to the next. It looks at how one would argue that there is no possible end to the conflict; that the roots of this war are the most basic traditions of the factions fighting it and that one side will have to completely destroy the other before there is peace in the region. Others say that the entire thing is orchestrated by a small Zionist faction that controls U.S and Israeli foreign policy from the shadows. The paper argues that both sides are wrong and that through long term proliferation of sectarian thinking and a vast shift in economic power in favor of the United States, both parties can learn to accept peace.
From the Paper:
"Amnesty International seems to think otherwise. ABC News wrote in their January 20, 2009 article that Amnesty international had officially accused Israel of war crimes for their use of the white phosphorus shell. These shells, produced in the U.S, are notorious for causing civilian casualties and are banned under international law. The reason being the indiscriminant monition is designed to explode over a populated area praying it with white phosphorus, a substance that, once it comes into contact with skin, does not stop burning until it hits bone. According to the article Israeli officials deny the use of such weapons but are conducting an "internal investigation into the matter". (Knight, Ben)."
