This paper looks at why polyamory should be favored over monogamy. Specifically, the paper argues that monogamy foists upon people and unrealistic conception of human relationships that wholly ignores human nature. To put it another way, people are not "hard-wired" to be monogamous and the exercise of trying to shoe-horn people into monogamous relationships simply frustrates actual human nature while the institutions that trumpet the benefits of monogamy inculcate people with unrealistic expectations about adult relationships; these unrealistic expectations, as we will see, also deepen the pain people experience when they discover a partner has cheated on them.

"Proceeding along, because unrealistic expectations are a big reason why couples divorce, monogamous ideals can be blamed for many unhappy children being reared in single-homes. Not stopping here, the paper will examine the ideas of polyamorists and how their ideas and ideals differ substantively from those of monogamists or polygamists. In the final analysis, polyamory simply accepts human nature as it is and asks people to address their true selves (and the true selves of others) with openness and tolerance."
