"So, while it is very contemporary, very much in keeping with the eco-think that mankind is connected to nature, and that nature having been created by God, that through the sacrifice of Christ on the cross mankind's connection with nature is affirmed and that if mankind is aware of nature then he is, too, aware of and entitled to salvation. This is the "cosmic" Christ that contemporary society would perhaps like to supplant the Church. It would be so easy to live without the laws of God and to go about believing that, even outside of the law, or outside of the Church, salvation is a given. However, de Lubac says, it is not quite that easy."
