Fetal Rights and Endangerment
Argues that affording foetuses 'human rights' is illogical.

Paper Summary:

Just as heated as the abortion issue in the United States, though perhaps somewhat lesser known, is the question of the extent to which fetuses should be afforded rights as people. From a moral and ethical standpoint, it is quite a quandary. This paper argues that affording fetuses the same rights as people is not only unethical, but also ridiculous.

From the Paper:

" In other words, if fetuses do not have rights to security and life - just as any born person would - then what's to stop any woman from simply ingesting large quantities of alcohol, smoking cigarettes, doing drugs, or engaging in likewise risky behavior? In fact, they argue, nothing stops women from doing just that, in the process endangering the potential life that a given fetus might have had."
