Dating in The Workplace

Dating in The Workplace
A discussion on workplace relationships and employer regulations to prevent conflict.
1,209 words (approx. 4.8 pages) | 4 sources | MLA | 2007 United States

Paper Summary:

The paper explores the topic of interpersonal relationships in the workplace. The writer explains that the fundamental complication that arises from the issue of workplace relationships is a general conflict of interest between the demands of the employer and the personal demands of the employee. The paper examines how the overall effectiveness of the workplace is not as significant a concern for the employees as their own well-being. The paper discusses how employers have a vested interest in bringing together workable regulations for dealing with workplace relationships. The writer concludes that if society is at all a reflection of moral principles, then the principle that productivity comes before privacy is a difficult philosophical proposition.

From the Paper:

"The deontological perspective, on the other hand, is slightly more straightforward. A deontologist usually measures right and wrong actions along similar lines as utilitarians, but with one major exception: deontologists believe that there are some actions that are intrinsically good and some that are intrinsically evil. So, a deontologist believes that certain actions simply cannot be done--like murder--completely irrespective of the possible increase in utility."
