Church, Growing as a Society

Church, Growing as a Society
Essay describing the author's beliefs about religion and the church and what role it should play in our lives.
829 words (approx. 3.3 pages) | 2 sources | MLA | 2005

Paper Summary:

This paper expresses the author's feeling that the absence of religion in our lives or, at least, the absence in the belief in a higher being, is reflected in society's constant striving for material goods. The author looks at how the role of religion has changed over time and explains why she believes that a belief in a God or a higher being helps us strive for greater things. It also argues that the church, in order to play a bigger role in society, must accept people for who and what they are and what they can do.

From the Paper:

"Materialism, government, or technology, which do u worship? In today's society, religion is often covered by other thoughts and concepts, these thoughts and concepts sometimes help us to stray from what is right. In Anthony Brandt's essay, "Do Kids Need Religion?" he explains that kids need religion in today's society, as well as adults, to help them find significance and meaning in their life's, he also argues that if morals could replace religion, and there was no God, then are we degraded to Nihilism? It's a common thought these days that religious faith and practice has fallen out of favor, and is being replaced by our need for bigger and better things in our must-have society."
