This paper argues that mixed marriages have a great disadvantage because the cultural conflicts that occur between the members of the couple have negative outcomes on the children, shaking their sense of identity and performance in school. It argues that mixed marriages between culturally and religiously diverse people need to be discouraged because the different values they hold will lead to conflict and tension, as well as having an adverse effect on the children's sense of identity.
From the Paper:
"In a perfect and romantic world, there should be no obstacles to marriage between couples who love each other. Race, culture, religion and nationality should not be obstacles to marriage and they should not prevent the successful outcome of the mixed marriage. However, the truth is that these factors can be strong and destructive obstacles to marriage and the success of marriage. One of the reasons for this is that racial, cultural and religious differences indicate a difference in the values and mentalities of the couple. These differences are fundamental ones that affect the way that a person sees and acts in the world around him and, hence, can jeopardize a marriage."
