Alcohol Use in America

Alcohol Use in America
An argument against the legalized sale of alcohol in America.
1,749 words (approx. 7 pages) | 8 sources | MLA | 2006 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper argues that in spite of all the damage to society caused by the legalized sale of alcohol, local government and communities would never prohibit its sale because they stand to lose too much financially if it were not legal to sell alcohol. It uses revenue statistics from the beer, malt liquor, ale and wine markets as proof of the amount of money being made in this industry and why communities would never prohibit the sale of alcohol even if it would benefit society.

From the Paper:

"On the State and Community levels of government throughout the nation there is no other issue that garners as much attention than that of legalized and regulated alcohol use. Moreover, there is no issue the States and Communities want to duck more than the exposure of their laws, policies, rules and regulations concerning the legalized use of alcohol. There is nothing more costly, time consuming, law producing and difficult to regulate while at the same time more profitable than legalized alcoholic beverages. Moreover, almost every State and Local Community depend heavily upon this revenue producer to maintain the balance of their respective governmental agencies' budgets for continued operation."
