Abortion, Morally Indefensible

Abortion, Morally Indefensible
A debate on the morality of abortion.
2,433 words (approx. 9.7 pages) | 4 sources | APA | 2009 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses the arguments for and against abortion. The author cites scenarios that he feels represent the most clear cut examples of when an abortion is not a moral alternative as well as providing examples where the morality or immorality of abortion is not so clear. He concludes that there are many reasons for a woman to seek an abortion, but there is only one moral answer.

From the Paper:

"There are certain reasons for abortion that are immoral and are directly analogous to murder. The deliberate killing of a human being is murder. It is never morally defensible to take the life of another for expedience, convenience or frivolity. The woman that seeks an abortion after engaging in consensual unprotected sex, is not acting morally if her reason for seeking that abortion is only that she believes the time in her life is not the right time to have a child. The fact that this woman may be underage and unmarried, and therefore ill prepared to care for a child, is unpersuasive. There are birth control prevention products readily available. This woman has reasonable alternatives other than abortion, including placing the child with an adoption agency, or keeping the child and doing her best to raise him on her own. (NRLC, 2008)."
