Paper Summary:
The paper explains the meaning of personal values, organizational values, cultural values and ethical values. The paper then shows how globalization is causing paradigm shifts in all these values. The paper questions whether humans will be able to adapt to these changes in mutually beneficial and creative ways or whether eventually there will be a reaction against globalization and its consequences.
From the Paper:
"1. Personal values will take into account preferences regarding what is most important to an individual and form an integral part of that person's personality. It could be placing importance on family, religion, politics, honesty, money, education, health, food, or clothing. It could also include controversial choices such as abortion rights, rights to carry weapons, or thinking the death penalty is a good choice for punishment of crimes. A criminal will also be considered as having values, even though society may consider them undesirable values. A criminal may have values that in that person's mind justify their behavior, even though it can result in adverse consequences to their victims.1.
