This paper discusses the reasons for the survival of Pentecostalism.
1,407 words (approx. 5.6 pages) | 1 source | MLA | 2008 United States

Paper Summary:

The paper discusses Pentecostalism, and the role faith plays therein. The paper supports the discussion by referring to Grant Wacker's "The Functions of Faith in Primitive Pentecostalism." The paper also discusses the reasons as to why Pentecostalism has survived and suggests that it has done so for two reasons: 1.) It functions at the personal level; and 2.) Its message is preeminently traditional. The paper uses only the source mentioned above and does not include a source page.

From the Paper:

"Another monumental theme displaying the completely personal aspect of Pentecostalism is the view of God being eclipsed by Jesus; and that the Holy Spirit is fundamentally an impersonal power, not the actual Third Person of the Trinity. This near role-reversal allows the individual to be in direct connection with the divine. It is easier for us to feel such a connection with a God that existed in time rather than one that is seemingly transcendent. Jesus felt the same desires, pain, hunger, and thirsts that human beings feel--so, in this manner, we share that relationship."
