Paper Summary:

The paper analyzes the scene and settings of "The Yellow Wallpaper" to determine how they influence the characters' growth and well-being. The writer concludes with a personal reaction to the story.

From the Paper:

"The main character has nervous depression, and doesn't understand why her husband won't let her interact with other people. She is irritated that she is tired and can't complete the chores around the house, as she once did. For being mentally unstable she is a very smart woman. She is writing, which her husband wouldn't approve of, but she hides the papers in her room with yellow wallpaper. The woman spends hours following the patterns on the wall. One pattern would end and another would begin, they overlapped as to make bars, to keep something from getting out. The woman is a strong willed woman in the beginning of the story, but she starts to believe that she can't help herself only her husband can cure her. The woman feels guilty for not being the perfect wife. She really wants to make her husband happy, not be such a bother, so he can focus on his "serious patients" in town. By the end of the story the woman doesn't recognize her husband, he is just a man."
