From the Paper:
"This poem is not entirely about music, it focuses on a simple musician in a poor yet very creative neighborhood in upper Manhattan. It focuses on the aspect of Negro culture taking over white instruments and tuning them into something totally different. Another aspect is the simplicity of the poem; it does not include foreign words or sentences that cannot be understood by everyone. That is the point of this poem. It is written for everyone, because music is very universal especially if it has such a dominant rhythm like the blues."
