On the surface it seems that Ibsen has provided his audience with a tragic hero in Hedda with a tragic flaw in her quest to prove her own independence and with a point of no return in the moment that he decided not to tell Ejlert that she actually has the manuscript that he has lost. These are most certainly the makings of tragedy ..."
