This paper examines how William Wordsworth's "The Prelude" was written as an autobiographical sketch of the writer life. "William Wordsworth's The Prelude was written as an autobiographical sketch of the writer's life. Many of the metaphors used in the work, were merely substitutions of his experiences and feelings. It is for this reason that several critics have been compelled to write about this work in relation to Wordsworth's own attitudes in regards to life and relationships. One of the concepts from his writing that is most often criticized is his feeling toward women. The Prelude was written in an era of romanticism. During this period, there was little to say in most literary works in regards to the nature or the importance of the fairer sex. It was during this time that few women's rights were being considered. "
