The fact is, new companies entering the market will have to compete with AT & T to stay alive, and while AT and T is in compliance with anti-trust laws, their market share is so strong that it is easy to confuse their company's business practices with total monopolization of telecommunications.
"As such, they also have a powerful grip on price structure and price controls within their market. In effect, At and T veritably sets the prices for products in their market, as their foothold is so thorough and dominant that the market prices that AT & T deems sufficient for operational activity for a given year are also going to set the standard for integration of the myriad of technology and communication services, plans and bundled interfaces that AT and T has to offer."
