Written in 2002; 900 words; 2 sources; $ 35.95
Paper Summary:
This paper will discuss the book by Susan Gubar and Sandra Gilbert called "The Madwoman" in the Attic, and seek to understand, through their exposition on nineteenth century female writers, how George Eliot in "The Lifted Veil" reveals patriarchal premise, but is merely showing the dark aside of this obvious bigotry to opposite sex relations. By analyzing the text of "The Lifted Veil", we can see how she usurps the context of a new femininity in her time, by her allusions to male dominance in the book.
