This paper reviews the origins of the Ford Motor Company (FoMoCo), which created the market for the low-cost automobile. The paper follows FoMoCo's financial problems from rumors in February of 2003 that it was on the verge of bankruptcy to its financial statement of 2007 indicating optimism on its future financial health. The paper concludes that, financially speaking, Ford Motor Company may not be tottering on the brink of fiscal ruination, but it certainly is close enough to the precipice to look down and observe certain things that could bring about utter destruction. "Furthermore, these healthy figures have been exacerbated by the sale of an Automotive Components Holding (ACH) during the first quarter of 2007, an entity that supplies automotive parts to dealers, factories and individuals. Also, Ford has agreed to sell two other ACH's to outside parties. Obviously, by doing this, Ford is eliminating a good amount of costs related to supporting ACH businesses. Also, Ford has agreed to sell off its Automotive Protection Corporation (APCO) which was finalized in April of 2007 and to sever its connections with Aston Martin, home-based in Great Britain."
