"In the play by William Shakespeare that bears his name, the hero "Macbeth" emerges as tragic hero, not a villain. This is not because the play is called "The Tragedy of Macbeth." Rather it is because the play's action is driven by the moral failure of the central character rather than the horror the viewer feels at the murder of Duncan by the central character.
