↶ Look Inside

Paper Summary:

The purpose of this paper is to introduce and discuss "The Awakening," by Kate Chopin. Specifically, it explains the male versus female relationships in the story. Edna is a selfish and vain woman who cares little for her husband, who of course, worships the ground she walks on. These two divergent experiences of one relationship add up to more than just the differences between a man and a woman, they add up to a couple who simply have nothing in common.

From the Paper:

"Edna, the heroine of "The Awakening" is married to Leonce, and has two sons. Outwardly, she has the perfect life, but inwardly, she realizes she is a tortured and unhappy individual, and it ruins her relationships."
