"In Mitchell Duneier's book, "Sidewalk", the author explores the sociological setting in which a population of sidewalk vendors are profiled. In more than five years of research and surveying the stories of these individuals, Duneier creates a series of profiles about both the vendors and the setting in which they live. Anecdotal experiences demonstrate to the reader that the themes in Sidewalk help to create a sociological study of both those who profiles and the urban setting in which the events of the book unfold.
