A look at London's Scotland Yard and Metropolitan Police force. Key cases, leaders, the effects of society on the law and the effects on law enforcement on society are highlighted. The paper also presents a brief comparison of the MP to the FBI.
From the Paper:
"Scotland Yard is a world-renowned crime fighting organization. However, many people don't know that it is not located in Scotland, and no longer has anything to do with a yard. In fact, Scotland Yard is a synecdoche used as the moniker of London's Metropolitan Police Force. Since its inception in 1829, Scotland Yard has been the primary means of crime detection and prevention in London (with the exception of the City of London). Throughout the years, policing in London has evolved due to trial and error, lessons learned from criminal investigations, and technological advancements. A historical analysis of Scotland Yard demonstrates the necessity for organized systems of law enforcement in modern societies."
