When he proclaimed, "We have nothing to fear, but fear itself" during his first Inaugural Address in 1933 and passed New Deal legislation during his first one-hundred days in office, he inspired millions of Americans to believe that courage, determination, and hard work would enable them to overcome the unprecedented economic crisis triggered by the collapse of the Stock market in 1929."
