Population Pandemic
A look at the problem of global overpopulation.
1,414 words (approx. 5.7 pages) | 7 sources | MLA | 2008 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper discusses the problem of overpopulation that has plagued countries all over the world. It gives examples of population control from early civilizations such as the ancient Greeks and the Siwans of Egypt, where boy-man relationships were encouraged in a bid to curb population growth. The author also discusses the incidents of infanticide performed by the Romans for the same reason of population control before analyzing modern methods of population control such as planned birth policies, sex education and mandatory sterilization.

From the Paper:

"A discourse must be created wherein population control is advocated. This can be done by the teaching of comprehensive sex education in public schools. It must happen from an early age on in an effort to educate future generations about practicing safe sex. Birth control needs to be readily accessible and easily affordable, as do different contraceptives. Sex in America needs to no longer be seen as taboo, but rather embraced as a necessary part of life that should be engaged in responsibly. Perhaps birth licenses should be given out the same way drivers licenses and marriage licenses are. Perhaps mandatory sterilization of those society deems to be unfit for parenthood is the answer."
