Paper Summary:

This paper involves an analysis of two popular works by Shelley. "Ozymandias" is discussed first, followed by "England in 1819." The two poems are thoroughly dissected; both poems include an analysis of technique and style, explanation of difficult ideas, and historical context. The paper ends with a discussion of similarities and differences. Two small in-text photos illustrate the poem, "Ozymandias."

From the Paper:

"The poetry of Percy Bysshe Shelley reflects the ideals of the Romantic period in which he was writing. In the poems "Ozymandias" and "England in 1819," the main Romantic theme is that of political justice and concerns. Both of these poems have a strong political voice running through them, but in very different ways. Shelley's versatility in his writing combines with his desire to better people and society in these two similar yet different poems."
