"Most of the narrative traces the activities of Victor and Marsha, at home, at work and trying to discover their son. As is necessary to the plot, Cook devotes two sections of the novel to incidents involving the deaths of the Murray and Hobbs children (Chapter 2). This mention titillates us at the beginning; the reader sees a possible relationship with the story.
