In this article, the writer notes that many movies show racism whether intentional or not and maintains that the movie 'O' demonstrates racism. The writer discusses that in the movie 'O', the characters throughout the plot judge Odin, the only black student, by his race. The writer looks at the movie and discusses how Odin is treated differently from the others. The writer concludes that in society people should not make judgments based on a person's looks but by their actions. The writer maintains that this movie shows how society does just the opposite and this is why the movie 'O' shows racism.
From the Paper:
"The movie O also uses stereotypes that show how it is racist. For instance, when Odin buys cocaine from the black drug dealer; this scene uses a stereotype. The drug dealer could have been a white person or a woman but a black man is used as the character. The movie shows how many people see drug dealers as black men. Another stereotype the movie uses is the talented black basketball player. Again, it is assumed that black men are the best at basketball. The movie O shows how people automatically see black men in different roles then white men."
