"The relationship of Son to Father can be confusing; one is struck by the fact that the Son is portrayed as a separate being from the Father, and the two characters even have dialog! In many Christian traditions, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are taken as three beings in one; in other words, the Trinity. However, if all three beings were contained in the same space, it would be rather hard for The Son to sit at the Father's right hand. Milton characterizes the Son as being of God (begotten by God) but not God himself. The Son is "the first born of every creature for by him were all things created that are in heaven and that are in earth"(Hughes 956). That is to say, God uttered 'fiat lux' and there was light, but the Son gave this light function and application on Earth."
