Maya Angelou

Maya Angelou
Shows why this American writer is considered a phenomenal woman and feminist.
1,393 words (approx. 5.6 pages) | 6 sources | MLA | 2005 United States

Paper Summary:

Maya Angelou's novels, autobiographies and poetry reflect her struggles through life from being an African-American woman in a prejudiced world. This paper discusses how she stands up for all women of all races and backgrounds and how, through her work, Angelou attempts to break the racial barriers of her readers. The paper looks at these messages through several of her works, including "Equality", "Still I Rise" and "The Heart of a Woman".

From the Paper:

"Like Martin Luther King's inspirational words, Angelou also develops words of her own to become a leader. It is not surprising that King was an inspiration to Angelou, because it seems that they both have the same kind of approach to motivate others, to raise awareness, to create goals, and to give others confidence that their goals are possible to achieve."

I'm a junior in college, business major. I love to write and have always been a very good writer--dream of becoming a journalist. I've received A's on all of my papers. I used to be a political science major, and I also enjoy literature and history.
