This paper examines the book, "Mantle of the Prophet: Religion and Politics in Iran". The book was written by Roy Mottahedeh and was published in a new edition in 2000 by Oneworld Publications. The paper shows that in terms of the author's background, training, and experience, it is obvious that Mottahedeh is fully qualified to write this book, for he is a highly respected Professor of Medieval Eastern History at Harvard University, and has been the recipient of numerous scholarly awards, including the prestigious Guggenheim Award.
