↶ Look Inside

Paper Summary:

This paper explains that the proposed Challenge Day is a change agent program to reduce all forms of school violence by addressing the social and interpersonal issues at their roots in a central Florida high school. An evaluation of the needs, purpose and goals of this program and a plan for its future assessment, implementation data collection and results reporting are related by the author. The paper concludes that it is unlikely that the ultimate effectiveness of an initiative such as the Challenge Day program on the nation's youth today can be gauged to any extent as to its success over the long-term.

From the Paper:

"Because there are so many stakeholders involved in the Challenge Day program, the reporting procedures used to communicate the results of the initiative will differ according to the targeted audience. For example, both participating and nonparticipating students will be provided with the results of the Challenge Day program to highlight the need for an immediate cessation of student-on-student violence in the school and to promote improved citizenship behaviors across the board."
