740 words (approx. 3 pages) | 1 source | MLA | 1999 United States

Paper Summary:

The motif of light in the forms of natural light, internal radiance, atmospheric chance, etc. are explored in this paper as a resonating motif (concept which repeats itself throughout the novel to achieve/influence readers' perception of underlying theme) throughout "The Scarlet Letter," by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

From the Paper:

"Everyone should strive to rid themselves of hidden sin to achieve freedom and happiness. Various comments regarding light and sunshine exemplify this idea; sins need to be exposed in order for people to feel released from burden in The Scarlet Letter. Everyone feels better when they share a problem with others in any society, just as the characters do in the novel. When people achieve inner peace, they can progress to a feeling of happiness and well being in their everyday lives. This motif of light in all its revealing forms is a major structural aspect of Hawthorne's timeless novel."

I am a 2001 graduate and Valedictorian (and also made a 5, the highest, on my AP English Senior National Exam...yeah...just trying to show the credentials here) in search of a little extra money to help me out. I considered majoring in English/Journalism but decided on computer art because I love my iMac so much. I also love Jeff Buckley, Radiohead and Interpol... Also of note, though these papers are of A+ caliber, they are also written in a believable format that should ring genuine to most professors and teachers as opposed to other papers of PhD. and meticulous scientific research quality which may be viewed as false/"too good" (at least in my book as a student)....thanks! :)
