"Kyoto also had an impact on Germany from an economical point of view. Although since the early 1990's a movement towards clean energy sources was slightly noticeable, this grew bigger in line with the climate contract from 1997. Illustration 5 displays the proportion of renewable energy sources to total power generation ones from 1995 until 2007. The rate increased from below 5% in 1995 to 14.2% in 2007. Noticeably is the sharp increase from 2006 on, which can be interpreted as a result from the Kyoto ratification in 2005. "
