This paper briefly examines these two articles and provides a summary of each. It shows how Gordis believes that anti-Semitism still rears its ugly head in so many ways today in modern society, especially by the black race. It also discusses how Wright looks at ethnicity in the census, and how this ethnicity can affect everything from Congressional districts to budgets for the states and the nation.
From the Paper:
"Author Gordis opens his discussion in "Jews, Race, and American Pluralism" with the statement, "Anti-Semitism is, understandably, frightening to Jews" (Gordis 33). This is probably one of the greatest understatements in history. Jews have every right to be afraid of anti-Semitism, for it can grow into genocide, as the Holocaust so vividly illustrates, and his statement, while factual, seems to lack depth, while stating the glaringly obvious."
