"In Charlotte Perkins Gilman's short story "The Yellow Wallpaper", the reader is swallowed up in the world of the unnamed narrator who becomes obsessed with the wallpaper in her summer house. The narrator, whose name is revealed to be Jane at the very end of the story, is ill and her husband, a doctor, insists that she stay indoors and most importantly-not use her imagination. His strict instructions not to over exert her mind and her struggle to follow those instructions eventually contribute..."
