# 138328
An examination of globalization and labour forces, with a focus on the case of India.

Published on: Jan 01, 2008

Paper Summary:

The paper discusses how the world of the twenty-first century is changing at a dramatic rate. The paper goes on to look at how globalization - via such things as outsourcing and via the increased permeability of national borders - has radically transformed India from a nation with a poor labour force with relatively few avenues for prosperity into one that is on the cusp of taking firm control of many aspects of the global service sector. In particular, the paper looks at how India is preparing itself for success in this century (and thereafter) and at how Indians are now prized for their specialized skills (and are attracting a market overseas). The paper looks briefly at the "racialization" of various services within the United States as talented Indians move in to do the jobs Americans are seemingly not being trained to do.
