Paper Summary:
This paper discusses the determinants of human behavior. The author looks at biological and psychological factors as well as social influences that affect the way humans interact and behave. The paper explains how biology, though creating potential through the expression of genes, cannot create human behavior without the influence and the interaction with the social and psychological factors of a person's life.
From the Paper:
"Behavior is influenced by biology, through genes, neurotransmitters and other biological mechanisms; by environment, through social factors; and psychology, through the structure of the human brain and its many, varied functions. Understanding how each influences behavior is important; however, the key to human behavior is to focus on the way these three branches work together. While biological factors provide certain structures, social and psychological factors also provide important characteristics; no one area can entirely determine human behavior. Behavior is influenced through the interaction of biological, sociological and psychological factors."
