This paper interprets the characters and situations in the Russian fairytale, "Humpbacked Pony" as they relate to children in the real world. The paper comments that "Humpbacked Pony" is an excellent story for a child in that it teaches them many good values that they will need in their life and also promotes the important values of friendship and forgiveness.

"The youngest son Ivan finds the mare. In exchange for letting it go the mare will trade him two golden maned steeds and a humpbacked pony that will become his one true friend. Ivan's brothers stole the two horses and sold them to the tsar. The tsar's grooms could not handle the horses so the tsar hired Ivan to work in his stables. The royal chamberlain was the head stableman before Ivan got there. Since Ivan took his job he was very jealous and mean to Ivan. He spied on him all the time waiting for him to make a mistake. Ivan meets the sun and the moon and a large whale monster on the way."
