Paper Summary:

This paper stresses that, because people have become so dependent on personal computers including laptops, notebooks, sub-notebooks and netbooks, individuals should know how to use these devices and understand their basic functions. Next, the author explains that computers cannot work without the software that provides the commands like the human mind. The paper advises that a person should select the right computer depending on how its is going to be used, should take proper care of it and should read the manual to get the most from this technology.

From the Paper:

'A computer is an electronic machine that processes information by taking in raw information (or data) at one end, storing it, then processing the input as required then spits out the results at the other end. Taking in information is called input, storing information is better known as memory, chewing information is also known as processing, and spitting out results is called output. Any physical component one sees is called hardware such as the mouse, the keyboard, the whole computer itself or even the web cam. The rule of thumb is - if you can touch, hold and feel it is hardware. What you see on the screen or what drives an output to a printer is called the software or application. Thus, the software is something you cannot touch but when activated you can see the end result.'
