"The purpose of this research is to examine how the two kings are treated in 1 Henry IV and King Lear and why they are treated as they are. The plan of the research will be to set forth the dramatic and historical context in which each play deals with the issue of monarchy and its proper treatment, and then to discuss lines of action in each play that demonstrate the source of the treatment that Henry and Lear receive.
