From the Paper:

"This style is effective in that in includes everyone and makes them feel a sense of personal involvement and responsibility. However, it is easy for the group to lose direction without one person steering the ship. Therefore, this style would not be appropriate for GeneOne right now. Participative Leadership is close to Democratic Leadership in that it is very inclusive in the decision making process. Too much input can sometimes delay decisions and cause organizational rifts when people do not get their proposition approved. This would not be a fit for the same reasons the Democratic Leadership would not be a fit. In the long term structure of GeneOne perhaps Don will grow to become a situational leader, displaying qualities that are appropriate for different situations. Until then, the current issues with the IPO would call for a transformational leader."
