Perhaps the reason why social stereotypes have been described in various manners is that it often brings out different perspectives of racial discrimination and the responses of the affected groups towards racial distinction. The play Funnyhouse of a Negro by Adrienne Kennedy is an effort in this direction and describes the mental and emotional stress that the central character, Sarah has to undergo because of her mixed lineage."
