The Book of Ecclesiastes attempts to solve the problem of how one should live one's life. The paper shows that according to the book one should live life in a manner that will allow one to enjoy it as much as possible so long as God is feared. The paper shows how some interpreters argue that Ecclesiastes depicts enjoyment as vanity and the attainment of wisdom as the way one should live. The paper presents arguments against this thought.
From the Paper:
"In this passage, Ecclesiastes explains the righteous who fear God will be well, but the wicked ones do not have much time to live. Regardless of how one chooses to live ones life, it all culminates in one concept, namely, the fear of God. Fear God and keep his commandments "For God will bring every deed into judgment" (Ecclesiastes 12:14). It is important to enjoy life while it exists because soon it will be gone. However, one must not forget the ever so powerful God. God's commandments must be obeyed and feared at all times."
